FAVORITE CHARACTER OF ANGEL CAKE’S
NOVEL
Angel Cake is a young fiction novel by British author Cathy Cassidy and was
released on 2009. Angel Cake's story centres on Anya,
a girl who moved from her home in Poland to be with her dad in Liverpool. However, when she moved over,
she wished that she could get back to Poland where she had used to call home. In
her new life in Liverpool, she met Dan, a bad boy who became her boyfriend. Even
though Anya knew most of the bad things Dan had done, she believed that Dan had
to have nice and sweet personalities. As things in Anya's life began to fall
apart, Dan became such a great help.
My
favorite character in this novel is Anya. I love her character because of 3
reasons. One of them is that Anya was a brave and strong girl. When she was still in
Poland, Anya used to dream of Britain, imagining it with more glamorous places
than her own home. But when she finally moved to Liverpool to live with her
father and began a new life with her family, she's was totally shocked. The situation was totally different from her
expectation. As you can imagine, a
huge life upheaval like this is hard and emotional, and Cassidy did a fantastic
job of communicating Anya's fears of moving to a whole new country. She left
her friends and school behind, and basically treads unknown ground in England,
not knowing who she'll meet or what will happen to her along the way. I've
never been in Anya's situation, but I felt for her - I don't think I could ever
do what she
did, as I'm far too attached to my home and my life.
The second reason is that Anya was a kind person. She loved
to help people. For example, she helped the kid who was begging on the street. Her kindness also helps her soon
to get many new friends of her own at her school and attracts the attentions of
school bad-boy, Dan. Anya often help Dan to solve his problem, especially when
Dan’s
family problem had been revealed. Dan also often was going to be excluded from
school. But, Anya used to be the first person who supported Dan. She always
thought – how can Dan be such bad news when being with him feels like heaven?
The
last reason is that she was an hard-worker. In her early life in Liverpool, she
faced many difficulties in her school life. Anya thought she was good at
English, but it was totally wrong. And nasty girl Lily Caldwell takes an instant
dislike to her. It's no surprise Anya is homesick. Added to all this, her father's
business wasn't going so well and money problems cast a blight on the family. At
that situation, his boyfriend, Dan, supported her. Dan supports made Anya to work harder and
more diligent. When other people only need several days to prepared the test,
Anya would study longer than others and did her best.
